A downloadable game for Windows

In Slime King: Origins, you are what you eat... literally! Level up your skills as you consume items. Choose the path that will make you the king you want to be!

This is a project I made in November 2024 for the Level Up RPG Game Jam. We were given 7 skills and an XP progression table. 

Information on the 7 skills in game are "progression locked", which means that you unlock information on how skills progress the further down the skill you go. However, for the sake of the game jam, I've provided information with what the level up tree looks like at the very end of this description. Avoid if you don't want spoilers!

I am quite proud of what I managed to get done by myself in a month. Please check out the Read Me file for credits for the sound effects, which I found online. Everything else was made by me. 

As it is a project I made in a month by myself, it still has some pending bugs. No bugs should prevent you from completing the game. If you get stuck for whatever reason, press the "restart level" button in the pause menu!

STRENGTH 
Improved by consuming torches, braziers, candles and sources of fire
Every other level increase how much radiation damage each slime fraction does
Levels 5-10 also increase radius
Levels 11-15 add and increase burn damage 
Levels 15-19 adds a force that pulls things towards the slime
Level 20 makes it so that slimes destroy anything they touch

SPEED
Improved by consuming silver bars and silver coins
Every other level increases movement speed
Levels 5-10 also decrease the cooldown for the slingshot ability
Levels 11-15 Increase the force (and therefore distance) of the sling
Levels 15-19 add a stun time to foes hit by the slingshots
Level 20 removes the cooldown for the slingshot completely

AGILITY
Improved by leather, wood and feathers



Every other level increases swarm rotate speed
Levels 5-10 also adds dodge chance scaling with slime "smallness"
Levels 11-15 also adds dodge chance scaling with distance from other slimes
Levels 15-19 also adds dodge chance scaling with missing health
Level 20 gives each slime fraction a free dodge to damage that would kill them

DEFENSE
Improved by stone and bones

Every other level increases max health
 Levels 5-10 also adds healing when consuming
Levels 11-15 also gives immunity when consuming
Levels 15-19 gives permanent max health when consuming items
Level 20 gives permanent passive healing


ATTACK
Improved by consuming weapons

Every other level increases the lightning "tether" damage
Levels 5-10 also reduces the cooldown of the lightning
Levels 11-15 makes lightning stun enemies
Levels 15-19 gives bonus damage to all stunned units
Level 20 removes the lightning attack cooldown

MORALE
Improved by consuming gold and art

Every other level increases the max number of parts a swarm can split into
Levels 5-10 also adds a push back ability when splitting
Levels 11-15 gives immunity to damage for a time after splitting
Levels 15-19 spawns tiny automated slimes that help you fight
Level 20 gives 30 max parts

DISCIPLINE

Improved by consuming books and scrolls

Every other level increases the speed that your slime swarm diverges / converges
Levels 5-10 give the ability for slimes to rejoin
Levels 10-15 give the ability for slimes to split at will
Levels 15-19 frighten enemies when slimes split
Level 20 gives 50% damage reduction as  a single slime

Install instructions

Download and unzip the zip file. Inside you will find the .exe called Slime King Origins. Click on that and enjoy!
